I purchased this UPS because I participate in EarthTrek's Quake-Catcher Network [...] and I want to ensure that data is preserved in the event of a power failure. I have experienced one (that I'm aware of) power failure since setting up this unit, and it worked perfectly.

Within one week of buying this , I lost power in the house but this unit keep the PC and cable modem and VoIP phone going for 15 minutes.

I have always liked TrippLite products. I have a line conditioner that I bought ten years ago to keep the voltage in line when the AC of the house kicks in.

I do not use the software. I just wanted it as a reliable UPS. It worked perfect. For the price , I also bought another one for my wife's parents.

One suggestion, it is not designed to handle a large laser printer. Keep that unit plugged into another outlet.
